The Proposal. Adventureland. Wolverine. The Green Lantern. What can’t Ryan Reynolds do?
Buried is the latest flick to hit theaters and it’s a doozy. If your claustrophobic I’d highly recommend not seeing this in theaters, it gets hard to breathe just watching.
Reynolds plays Paul Conroy and right from the first show (which is all in black, just noise) he is trapped in a coffin, BURIED underground.
The camera NEVER leaves the coffin, its 95 minutes of Ryan Reynolds acting his pants off.
He awakes with a cellphone (yes, they explain why/how he could have service), a lighter, a pen and his flask. Armed with these things he has to find a way to get out of the coffin or find someone who can get him out. Oh, also, he’s in Iraq doing contracting and his phone is all in a different language.
This movie is pretty amazing. I’m not gonna lie to you, I was on the edge of my seat for pretty much the entire duration. If you’ve EVER had your doubts about Ryan Reynolds, see this movie. He is incredible. To do what he does and act completely by himself with only the help of some voices on his phone is truly a work of brilliance.
The director, Rodrigo Cortes, finds every possible way to shoot inside this little box without ever making it boring. Ever. He uses zooms, sounds, black screen, and every little light to his advantage and makes a breathtaking film. Literally. I was finding it hard to breathe at times and I didn’t think I was claustrophobic.
OH and the score! Brilliant. There is just enough of it that it doesn’t get on your nerves and the opening score over the fantastic credits was so Hitchcockian that I had chills.
I don’t want to give ANYTHING away from this movie, but suffice it to say, its a great one. I heard an usher spoil the movie on my way out; if I had heard him on the way in, I might have hit him on the head and buried him behind the theater.

If this is playing near you, please, go see it. It will knock your socks off. I was crying by the end and was still a tiny bit shaken when I was walking to me car.

Heres another quote for the movie poster. “10/10! I thought it was incredible and can’t wait to see it again and again!” - Todd Tieuli, Dangerous:Memories

If that quote isn’t on the blu-ray when it comes out, I’m gonna bury myself. You have 3 hours to contact me.
