Todd’s Top Tunes of Twenty-Ten - #10
So, I listen to a lot of music as you can probably tell. I end every podcast with a song, and whether people actually listen or not doesn’t matter to me, I’m gonna keep doing it. I’ve never done a top 10 list of albums, but this year I felt compelled to after the sudden wave of good music in recent months. So, in the coming weeks, I will give you my top 10. I will give links to their amazon page so you can buy and love them as well.
#10 - Michael Jackson - MICHAEL
I know, I know. It’s coming out NEXT Tuesday, but I’ve been listening to it online (you could listen to it for free on another site the other day) and took it to my iPod because I HAD to listen more. Not only am I fascinated that it exists, but I’m fascinated by how good it is and all the controversy surrounding it.
People are CONVINCED its not him. I don’t see it that way, I don’t see how it COULDN’T be him. Some of these songs were leaked years ago and nobody seemed to have a problem believing it was him then. Come on folks, the man recorded constantly. Like Prince, he has hundreds of unreleased songs.
At any rate, those people have been trying to get this album banned. BANNED! The whole thing is ridiculous. And mostly for the fact that the album is REALLY GOOD. I’ve listened to it non-stop for days now and can’t get some of the tracks out of my head. Monster featuring 50 Cent is CLASSIC Michael. It has a bumping beat and a terrific chorus that I CAN’T get out of my head. This album has some of every era of Michael, hence the sweet cover. You have some funky 70’s, some awesome 80’s, some sweet 90’s and yes, some even reminded me of Invincible, which I dug by the way.
Please, if you’re a fan of ANY of his music, give this album a shot, it will probably surprise you how good some of these songs are. I know Sony has a plan to release more of his stuff, and I personally can’t wait. I have a few of the leaked tracks from two years ago that, fully produced, would blow peoples minds.
So there it is. My number 10 of the year. If this were released before, it might have been higher, but in good conscience, I just couldn’t
Key Tracks: Monster, Behind the Mask, (I Like) The Way You Love Me.
